Each year the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes two outstanding individuals for their commitment to business and community. This year the committee working on the BOBB Awards has recommended and the Chamber’s Board of Directors has approved the selections for 2012.
We are honored to recognize Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” Danhof with our Lifetime Achievement Award and Mr. Edward Bleka with the Business Leadership Award. I have had the honor of working closely with both of these individuals and hold them in the highest regard.
Peggy Danhof, a retired teacher and 36-year resident of Bolingbrook is currently serving in her 16th year on the Fountaindale Public Library Board of Trustees where she holds the position of President. In addition, she has served as DuPage Township Supervisor, Bolingbrook Village Trustee, and is active in dozens of committees and organizations. Peggy holds to heart the true spirit of service to your community and neighbors.
Mr. Edward Blekaleft his job at a hand-cut butcher operation near the old Union Stockyards in Chicago in 1990 to strike out on his own, believing he could create a company that would better serve customers. Ed has grown Quantum Foods from his original operation of 15 people to one of the largest and most technologically-advanced protein processers in the world, now employing nearly 1,500 dedicated employees.
His story is a true example of the American dream, arriving in the United States from Poland in 1970, and building the business from the ground up with the help from family members, friends, and employees who believe in the Quantum Foods Mission, Values and Commitment.
These individuals and others like them is why Bolingbrook continues to be a leading place to do business in our region. The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce is privileged to have them involved in our community and lives.
On behalf of our 600 plus members I invite you to join us on Friday, March 9that the Bolingbrook Golf Club where we pay tribute and recognize Peggy Danhof and Edward Bleka for their remarkable contributions.
